Mission

Build stronger university-community partnerships by promoting equitable access to resources in our local community and elevating the voices of ethnic-racial minority and other marginalized populations in biosocial research.

Conduct focus groups and qualitative interviews with community leaders and members to discover how to remove obstacles to study participation, uncover community issues and interests, and strengthen university-community collaborations.

Develop and produce webinars, infographics, and seminars with a focus on health improvement, college preparation, promoting strong families, and child development.

Plan and host outreach events alongside local community organizations.

Create an advisory board with of community members and leaders, as well as UMD researchers.

Inform community members, stakeholders, and the larger scientific community about research findings.

Create and establish a registry system for the RARE research consortium.

Secure grant funding to support a full-time research staff that will maintain ongoing relationships with community members and build the foundation for a research consortium.

Create and build a self-sustaining framework for the research consortium.

Publicize the research consortium to UMD faculty and academic units to promote cross-disciplinary collaboration among experts with shared research interests.

Recruit diverse and historically marginalized backgrounds individuals and families into the RARE research consortium.
